Case Study: Food security in the face of climate risks – Mongolian herders’ experiences

Pastoralists in Jinst, Mongolia, have faced both climate-related shocks (such as
droughts and winter freezes — dzuds) and rapid economic change. In response,
they have taken collective action to reduce risks to their income, nutrition and
wellbeing. Collective management has helped store animal fodder for hard times
and diversification has raised herders’ incomes, better-protecting food security.
